Asset Based Curriculum Project

Years active: 2008-2009
Funded by the Royal Society for Arts, Manufacture and Commerce

The Manchester Curriculum and Peterborough Curriculum projects were initiated by the local city council, who approached the RSA. Although two projects were developed one around the ‘Manchester Curriculum’ and one focussed on the ‘Peterborough Curriculum’, the bigger aim of the work was to mobilise the resources of the city to support learning. However, those involved had conflicting goals.

The research projects conducted involved detailed semi-structured interviews with 17 teachers from 3 schools in Manchester conducted from 2008-2009; fieldnotes and interviews with 5 Head Teachers and 6 local organisations in Peterborough from 2009-2012.
